Young 14 year old son had a bad earache last night so this morning my husband takes him to the clinic. Guess what, they find a foreign object in his ear and it is past his ear drum so she wouldn`t pull it out. So now we have to pay big bucks to the Ear, nose and Throat Doc to take out the black plastic looking object. Since the boy is permanently attached to his ipod ear phones do you want to bet that a part of it came off (probably while he was skating or sleeping with them on) and and stuck in his ear. I sat him down and had the talk about being careful what you put in the holes in your body!

He`s the one without the hat.

p.s.Terri it reminded me of the little robot bugs that kept coming out of the peoples nose and eyes on Life on Mars.

I feel for him, then I want to kick his fanny, and then I realize a lot of people put their ear phones on an listen to music and sometimes fall asleep. Kids do it a lot because you tell them to turn everything off and go to bed so the cheat by putting on the ear phones so the parent doesn`t know they are still awake listening to their music. Kids!!!!! Hey Alex hope you`re having a good day? Did ya`ll get snow with this cold front?

I've never heard about something like that! I usually don't use ear phones because I don't feel comfortable with them, but to sleep with them in my ears??? I don't think I could manage. I hope he will be ok. I was deaf for two weeks when I was 14 and it was horrible!

Well kids do it a lot because you tell them to go to bed, so they turn off the lights and everything and you think they are asleep, but they are still listening to their music with their ear phones on. He`s such a music head that he`s aways got to have music on at all times. Can I ask what caused you to lose your hearing for two weeks? That does sound scary.

It was scary. At first nobody knew what that was and that was even more scary. But then one doctor (House?) said that I just had a labyrinth in my ears. I don't know how to say it in English. When you look into normal person's ear you can see the inside of your head - I have it more complicated. This way it's more complicated to keep it clean. And nobody knew about it before, so they had to find some other way to help me. It took about two weeks. But the worst moment was to hear clearly again. It hurt to hear again, and I made everyone at home to be silent for the first few days.

Oh dear, hope it comes out alright! We spent a lot of time at the hospital with foreign bodies (toy coins, sweetcorn... ) lodged in various places - but the kids were much younger and prone to pushing things into ears and noses!
