Can a diet cause you to forget how to cook?

I have messed up everything I`ve tried to cook lately! My son blames it on my diet, he says if I can`t eat it I can`t cook it, he might have something there!
I just made a strawberry cake for my sons birthday, I`ve made this recipe 100 times, today I put it in to small of pans and it ran over the sides and burned in the bottom of the oven and the fire alarms all went off and I have the biggest mess ever. I also think I used to big a box of Strawberry jello, it is just weird, but I`m going to cover it with icing and see if they will eat it!

Well, diet or not, I can NOT cook at all, so I would be glad if I could make anything edible even if it burnt in the end :)
But I can make jello!
